So I attempted to make Ella a hat without a pattern and it came out too big. Not way to big but a little loose on Cassie, so I know it will be too big on Ella. So back to the beginning. I used the formula were you took the circumference of the head and divided it by pi (3.14) to get the radius which was just a little over six inches. I kept increasing til I got to 54 because this was just a tad over six inches. So for the next hat I am going to stop at 48 and maybe increase only a couple if needed.
For the hat that is too big, I will be giving it to a co-worker's daughter, Kayla. I used super bulky Lion Brand Lion Suede.
My gauge is 4 inch square is 12 rows of 9sc.
